A Comparison of Different Reagents Applicable for Destroying Halogenated Anionic Textile Dye Mordant Blue 9 in Polluted Aqueous Streams

This article aimed to compare the degradation efficiencies of different reactants applicable for oxidative or reductive a chlorinated anionic azo dye, Mordant Blue 9 (MB9). In this article, broadly applied Fenton oxidation process was optimized treatment MB9, and obtained results were compared with other innovative chemical reduction methods. we agents such as Fe0 (ZVI), Al0, Raney Al-Ni alloy, NaBH4, NaBH4/Na2S2O5, combinations these reductants. The methods reduce bond together bound chlorine in structure MB9. dechlorination MB9 produces non-chlorinated aminophenols, which are more easily biodegradable wastewater plants (WWTPs) their corresponding aromatic compounds. both processes monitored by visible spectroscopy determined based on oxygen demand (COD). hydrodechlorination products expressed using measurement adsorbable organically halogens (AOXs) controlled LC–MS analyses. Optimally, 28 mol H2SO4, 120 H2O2, 4 FeSO4 should be per one dissolved dye practically complete after 20 h action. On hand, application alloy/NaOH (100 Al alloy + 100 NaOH MB9) proceeded smoothly seven-times faster than reaction, consumed similar quantities reagents, produced dechlorinated aminophenols. cost alloy/NaOH-based method could decreased significantly applying pretreatment Al0/NaOH subsequent smaller doses. homogeneous accompanied HDC situ Na2S2O4 (by action NaBH4/Na2S2O5) an effective, rapid, simple method. system reagents that almost twice low (66 NaBH4 66 Na2S2O5 18 H2SO4 comparison oxidative/reductive systems allowed effective fast removal AOX. A acid showed combination offers smooth, simple, efficient hydrodehalogenation textile dye.
